Music Ministry

St. Pius X enjoys a full and well-rounded Music Ministry.  There are four vocal choirs;  The St. Pius X Adult Choir, Children's Choir, Youth Choir, Women's Schola, and a Handbell Choir.  Click here for the latest choir schedules and news.

Youth Mass Band

In addition to traditional choirs, every Sunday night at the 5:30 p.m. Life Teen Mass, the Youth Mass Band leads the congregation in contemporary worship and praise music. Click here to find out more about the SPX Youth Mass Band.

St. Pius X Adult Choir


The Adult Choir sings at the 10:00am Mass on Sundays and for special occasions throughout the year (i.e.: Midnight Mass at Christmas, Easter Vigil, Prayer Service on All Souls, and with the Southside Seven for Ecumenical Services.
Handbell Choir
We are very proud of our Handbell Choir which was created in 1999.  This choir enhances the liturgy at various time during the year as well as the Christmas Eve Service. 
Women's Schola
The Women's Schola is an ensemble made up of 20 women who are committed to a unique and special ministry to the grieving.  The Schola is on call for all funerals conducted at St. Pius X Catholic Church.  In addition to singing for funerals, the Schola also performs for special occasions throughout the year (i.e.: Midnight Mass at Christmas, Good Friday and the Prayer Service for All Souls Day).

There are two choirs for the youth of St. Pius X.  The Children's Choir is open to children in first, second and third grades, from St. Pius X Elementary or any other school in the area.  The Youth choir is for 4th through 12th Grade.  The Youth Choirs sing on the first and second Sundays of every month October through May.

The various musical organizations at St. Pius will resume regular weekly rehearsals soon. The beginning dates for each choir are as listed:

Adult Choir begins August 24, 7:30-9:15

Handbell Choir begins August 31, 6:00-7:00

Women’s Schola begins September 6, 9:30-11:00 a.m.

Children’s Choir begins September 6, 3:30-4:15

Youth Choir begins September 6, 4:30-5:15

The Adult Choir sings every Sunday at the 10:00 Mass.

The Women’s Schola provides the music for all funeral Masses.

The Children’s Choir, grades 1, 2, and 3, sings at the 12:00 Mass on the first Sunday of each month and at the Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve.

The Youth Choir, grades 4-12, sings at the 12:00 Mass on the second Sunday of each month and the Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve.

The Handbell Choir performs at various times throughout the year.

All Choirs meet for practice in the Choir Room.

The Adult Choir practices every Thursday night from 7:30pm to 9:00pm (September through May)

The Handbell choir practices every Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm

The Women's Schola practice every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00am (September through May)

The Youth Choir practices on Wendesday from 4:30 to 5:15pm

The Children's Choir practices on Wednesday at 3:30-4:15pm
